I'm getting married in August. We're having a fairly traditional South Indian (Andhra) wedding. I haven't decided what to wear, but it will probably be a kanchi silk sari. I'm not very excited about having usual bridal hairstyle with a long braid and hair extensions. I just don't think it will suit me.

I don't mind wearing flowers in my hair (I would love to, actually), a tikka, etc. I just don't want the long false braid. :) My hair is shoulder length now, but I can grow it a little in the next few months.

Any ideas on alternative hairstyles that go with a South Indian look? If you have links to pictures, that would be particularly awesome.

    Google bridal hairstylist raghavan

You can find the styles and you can suggest your beautician to do one trial before marriage.

Why don't you have an updo, put your hair up in a nice bun with flower drapping down the side. Or do the traditional puff, ifyou want some volume in front & have a bun or french twist in back

If its reception you can go for any elegant/stylish hair dos, since its once for all auspicious time of your life,I would suggest you to go for the traditional hair style,BUT WITH LITTLE variation.
