It's so difficult to get pure mustard oil nowadays. Even the branded ones can be contaminated with argemone oil, so I stopped using it altogether.

    North Indian friends please help..
Sowmya, search for some brands that is labelled with 'pure mustard oil'.. Fortune company has got that..
It may be useful if any one who uses it for decades helps us with good brands and its availability..

YES! I can vouch for the effectiveness of Mustard oil. My 16 year old daughter had dull n thin hair when she was small. I started putting mustard oil mixed with equal amount of olive oil around the time she was 11. In less than one year her hair growth improved significantly. Not only that in less than 2 years everyone started complimenting on her lovely hair. Since then she is very careful about oiling her hair at least 3 times a week. I feel so happy when I see the way her hair looks now.

:iagree :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :goodidea: :goodidea: :goodidea:

Sowmya, any Indian brand of mustard oil will do. Mostly I buy the mustard oil you get in supermarkets which is used for cooking though I never use it for cooking. Since its very thick n have strong smell i mix it with olive oil n keep. Don't use too much oil. Then it will be difficult to remove oiliness. Also if you have oily or thin hair you need to be extra careful about the amount of it you use. Massage it on the roots n if possible warm it before using. U can cover your hair for an hour or so and wash off with good quality shampoo.
Hope you get it. All the best!

    Dear All,

Thank you for the information but mustard oil. But please dont say that south indians are not aware of the importance of mustard oil. It was insisted to apply on hair before shampoo on all saturdays by our ancestors.

thanks for reinforcing the use of mustard oil. :thumbsup
