where to get coconut powder

hi
where to buy coconut powder in US..
i usually add it to my receipes...
do they sell it in indian stores in packets or do you buy the raw coconut ( like we used to get in India) and then grind the pieces in mixer?
please clarify..

You could buy the whole coconut and grind it - that's what i do. I keep it in a freezer bag and break off portions and thaw them out as needed. Or you could buy the processed kind. this is usually found in indian stores - mostly in the freezer section. Just find an indian store and ask the people there...good luck!

As Manaswini said we can get them in freezer section in Indian stores and u also get dry coconut powder in Indian stores.

Also I have seen shredded coconut in American stores tooo.....we too get dried coconut powder(unsweetened) in American stores...

You get Maggi coconut powder in a big size that you get in Indian grocery stores. I always get this and is so handy whenever I want to use it while cooking.They can be stored for 6 months atleast in the refrigerator.
