Default how do you manage this

hi
my DH is into consulting...and we keep changing places every 6 -12 months..sometimes he gets short term projects...
how do you handle apartment leases at thoses time...
do you go by month to month...
basically, if you are not sure about how long you are going to stay at a place, how do you work out the leases..,because we already had an experience of signing long term leases and have to pay huge fines, when we had to break it...
please share your suggestions....

Ashwini, My husband was into contracting earlier. So wherever we went we wud take 6 months or better yet 3 months lease and keep increasing for another 3/6 months.I know how it feels to break the lease and pay heavy fees..
If you are in expensive places like NY/NJ/VA/MD and CA you can start with 3 months lease as lease breakage fees are a huge amount there. Good Luck.
