Hi Arthy!!
So on your way to Spore eh? :) Nice. Applying for visa to spore is a fairly simple procedure as long as you have all docs in place you shdnt have any problems at all. The visa procedure is transparent and everything is stated in the Spore Immigration website given below:
ICA - Visitor Services
I think either you or your brother can apply for tourist visa online itself, i.e assuming you need a visa- depends on how long are you planning to stay in Spore. From what I know, if you are in transit via Spore, you can legally stay in Spore for 96 hours without applying for a visa. This is applicable ONLY for people holding a valid working visa in any of thse countries - USA, Australia and Newzealand. Anything beyond 96 hours, you will need a visa.
Have fun in Spore and gear up for the sunny island of Singapura. :) I spent a good part of my teens in Spore, so I have a fair idea of how things work in Spore. Its a small country but well maintained and cosmopolitan.

Visiting Singapore is no big deal. I went there just a month ago.All you need is a valid USA visa and when you get down at the Singapore airport, head to the immigration counter and get the visa. Its a matter of 5 minutes..yes, you heard that right, just as easy as that. Check this link to have a fair idea

Uniquely Singapore - Visa Free Transit Facilities (VFTF)

For how long do you intend to stay at Singapore? There is a free Singapore transit visa available and is valid for 96hrs.If your stay is within this time limit, all you need to do is, head to the immigration counter and get the transit visa stamped in your passport. And the good thing is, you dont need to shell out a single penny.

thanks for that valuable info...
one more question...
my parents hold a US tourist visa that is valid until 2014...
is it possible for them also to fly down from india and get a singapore visa at the airport, since they have a valid US visa..?
so,what is the maximum allowable time they give the visa..
also, do they have any concept of i94, similar to US,that we get at the airport, which defines our legal period of stay...
please clarify...

Arthy
This is a transit visa that we are talking about. So if your parents are visit the USA and as a transit, if they stop over in Singapore, their USA tourist visa will be valid for the free 96hrs singapore visa. but on the other hand, if your parents are simply visiting singapore only, then they need to get a singapore visitor visa.I hope am clear.

There is nothing like I94 as in US.WWhen you get down at the airport, you will cross the immigration counter and only head out. If you need the free transit visa, just head to the counter, show your passport, your proof of the ticket that you will be returing to USA, and the officer at the counter will simply stamp the visa in your passport. The stamp itself will show the validity of your stay. Its pretty simple. The free transit visa's validity is only 96 hrs.So for you , you dont need anything except your passport and your proof of ticket to get the free transit visa. But for your parents, if they are not stopping at Singapore as a transit, then they have to get
a visitor visa only.

hi
thanks..but still need info..

lets take two cases...

case 1. i will be travelling from US- singapore - india...
so in that case, will i get a transit visa or can i request for a tourist visa at the singapore airprot,or do i need to get a visa for singapore, before departing from US...remember,i may not be having a return ticket to US..but i do have a valid US visa until 2012..
case 2..my parents will be flying from india -singapore, just to meet me...and they do have a valid tourist US visa..so, in that case, do they need to get the singapore visa, in india itself..or can they apply for a tourst visa at the singapore airport, since they have a valid US visa though they may not be going to US from singapore...

hi! we traveled to singapore last month for a holiday. If you are going for a short trip, you better get a tourist visa. Its very easy to get one, go to the singapore embassy and get a visa but i think it will be valied for 30 days or so.

am sorry for the delayed reply. Was shifting home and to top it all, I caught the flu..Since you are travelling from US to India via Singapore, you dont have a problem. All you need is your ticket to India.Walk in to the immigration counter, show your passport with valid US visa, your India ticket and you are done.It is as easy as that.

about your parents visiting Singapore, they cannot get a free transit visa unless they show a US air ticket. The whole concept of free transit visa is only for people who would stop over at Singapore.
