Looking for job in H4 status : Expert opinions needed

Very True, during the weekend i had been to a bank and wanted to apply for a credit card . In turn i was told that they don't allot credit cards to dependent members. i was so upset knowing that i would have to be a dumb till i m under this visa status.

I remember the "tips" floating around the Chennai US consulate in those days that the candidate was supposed to suppress the spouse's qualifications during the interview because they did not want the Embassy to think that the immigrants could be prospective citizens - perhaps this should explain why one has to wait until one gets a work authorization

I totally agree - on a H4 visa the most productive years of your life (career wise) are spent sitting at home.

Vaidehi - you should be able to get a credit card. Ask your hubby to add you on as an additional cardmember. once you start using your card and make regular payments and build a credit history, the bank will issue you one.

totally agree - it sucks!
But why are they worried about prospective citizens for 1 million indians who are in highest tax paying bracket contributing so much work & are law abiding citizens spending $$$$ in USA (contributing to their wealth) when they are allowing 10 million Latinos to jump across the border EVERY YEAR?
Really idiotic....just goes to show how 'smart' they really are

They are worried, for political reasons. All these Immigration matters are monitored by the govt. and they have to make sure things are under control when it comes to the population - it is a different story about illegal immigrants and it is sad what is happening in that area, again everything leads to politics...sadly!

if you dont mind ill give good advice to all of you, its really waste of time if you take any option like work from home, becz the person who gave you the Job will not going to Pay you at the end of month, i f you believe or not i have seen my frnd who has taken that option but at last the person cheated her becz with that status you cant sue any one right. so its better if you browse good sites and gaining some knowledge and Watching TV for general knowledge and to know about this country then thats really a very good idea.

but if you can find any job which you should daily go to company then they will definately pay for you but not for work from home option.

I am also facing the smae thing as you all. I am also an IT Personnel. I would also like to know abt the companies who r ready to pay in cash.It really hard to find one.

Please let me know and also i doubt if all volunteer work cna pay you cash it depends. and also want to know where i can i find the volunteer work, how to apply for that.

I just want to be employed asap.Please help and share ur thoughts.
