Looking for job in H4 status : Expert opinions needed

This is a problem every wife who comes on H4 faces.
We r all well employed back home and here we stay at home whole day.
But coming to working on H4,it is illegal,Period.There is on other point on this.
But if u still want to work,this is what u can do.There r stores like indian groceries,Dunkin doughts,subway etc.If these r owned by indians than u can contact the owners and they may employ u.The average payment maybe around $7 per hr.
My husband has a friend & that friend's wife is on H4 and she used to work for a Subway.The owner of that subway was a gujrati person.So he employed her and used to get $7 per hr.
But come to think of the outcomes,if any person who knows u comes to the store u r working & they spread to others in a cheap way "hey such & such's wife is working at the indian groceries billing man!!",it will look cheap for ur husband.That is the reason I didnt accept the Subway job.(1 more reason being I am a veg).
But the place where we stay now has no indians & the people here r too broad minded.So here I am ready to work in DD,but nobody is ready to give me a job like indians without a permit.So back to square one,I dont have a job yet.

Same is the case with me. I was working back in India in Software Testing.. and i'm waiting for a job for the past 6 months after marriage for the right opportunity.
Why dont we share some Software materials in our group and keep preparing to shoot at the target? Do anyone have contacts to do freelance projects? if so, help me too..
The one good option will be to wait till April 08 and apply an H1 :)

I am also sailing on the same boat, came to San Jose a month back...currently on H4. I am missing my work badly as was working from past 4 years as HR Consultant in Delhi(India).

I am also exploring different options that can keep me busy, will keep updating all of you if I come across anything interesting.

Hello to everyone.I know you ladies are talking about the H4, not having the oppurtunity for working.But few of them are telling they are working in other ways, but you have to really careful with that, as practising Immigration Attorney, you have to be really careful about the status, it is also going to affect yours and your husband and family status if something goes wrong.Iam happy to tell from the legal side if you have any questions, you can send me a private message. But i said earlier just be careful and aware of the laws , before doing something.Thanks,

My friend is getting an offer for the H1B Visa from a consultant and he is interested in taking it , His wife is a School teacher in india and teaches Hindi in a reputed school.

As I was going through the forum posts I found that She on H4 will not be eligible to work

In that case what are the employement opportunities , avaialble to H4 Wives and what all kind of Opportunities be in home and ouside the home are available ( Like working in a store ) or so

Please advise us as my friend is totally unaware of the details

Your friend could do a lot at home like, taking tutions, baby sitting etc.
You could make use of any skills over here.

Most people on H4 Visas are well educated and would easily be able to contribute to american economy. We are lawabiding and can give so much to american economy. All our talents are wasted and skills are rotting sitting around for the backlog centers to clear the LC's and for retrogression to end.Meanwhile we practically have no life and are completely dependant .
