| | Procedures/Exams/ Fees for MS ?
Hello girls, I have been hunting for study options in community colleges.
I am from Arts stream with a master's in English. I am looking for courses to do in Education and found master's program in a university. It didn't say the fee details. I am also considering pvt universities like Kaplan for these programs. Can anyone tell how much doing a master's would cost?
Thanks
Also is anyone planning to do any courses in Education or related field?

Hi Deepshikha,
The best way to get correct info would be to call up the relevant department and ask them:-
1) Their semester fees (resident or international student) and
2) Financial Aid possibilities

Aarushi

hello Aswali,
It all depends on which course you are planning to take and from which univ u want to do MS.
To do MS from a good university, you first need to give GRE and TOEFL(takes about 2-3 months of prepeeration). Then you need to prepare your SOP (statement of purpose) and collect LORs (Letters of recommendation) from your previous college professors, or your ex-boss, managers, co-workers and submit your marks sheet, degree certificate and transcripts. Goto the admissions section of university website you are interested in and see what they specify.
However, some universities, state universities to be precise, dont ask for your GRE score or Toefl score. You can visit the university and talk to the admissions officer regarding that.
Community colleges, offer a variety of credited courses like engineering, arts, science and finance subjects and uncredited courses like cake decoration, painting, horse riding, foreign languages etc. The credited courses offered in community colleges are usually of college level, they dont award any degree or MS certificate.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hi Pink angel
Can you answer my question too please? I finished college in India 4 years back and am not in touch with any proffesors etc. But I have found some masters programs in a state University in California which I want to get admitted too. To begin with I have started preparing for GRE general test(that's what the programs ask for), but I think it would be very difficult for me to get recos from India.
I have a masters in English and almost no work experience and the programs I want to get admitted to are masters in Education. Can you suggest me something? Would doing some credits from local community college help?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Deepshika,
Its ok if you are not in touch with your professors. If you contact your department/ university they should give you recommendation.Since every university and department is contacted by hundereds of alumini students for recos. Or if you have worked somewhere before, even for short period, you can contact your boss/ex- co workers.
Credits from local college might help. Im not sure since Im from an engineering background. Why dont u contact an education counsellar? He should be able to guide you how to proceed, what to do. You will find plenty of them every where. Just look in craigslist or do a google search.
Good Luck

Hello Aswali,
to do an MS, you must have completed your 4 years degree. (3 years of BSc degree or BA degree is not counted)
For universities, just do a google search or you can see this U.S. Universities, by State |
