Gangrape in Surat

The city of Surat is rattled by the shocking rape of a minor girl. It is indeed the worst crime in the world. It is shocking to see that even after 61 years of independence, women are still not safe in this country. Such crimes should be treated with utmost strictness and culprits should be hanged.

I personally was relieved by the widespread anger in the city after this incident. It is good to see that people have not become indifferent about these things like in other parts of the country. Today, the court has also ordered that the case will be tried in fast-track courts which will deliver quick justice.

I hope the victim will get justice soon. What do you think should happen with the accused boys?

They should be given a death sentence.Period.

Here is the full details about the case. The most shocking thing is two of the victim are sons of policemen.
Three men arrested for the alleged gangrape of a teenager in Surat were attacked by angry people at the city hospital where they were taken for a medical checkup by the police. The men, two of them sons of policemen, were being taken out of the hospital after the tests were over when they were surrounded by a large group of people, including women.
The accused were thrown to the ground, punched and kicked by the mob as the policemen tried to fend off the attackers.
The chaos continued for over 20 minutes after which the police managed to take way the accused- Shahid Sayed, Tariq Sayed and Abu Bakr. Police said one of the accused was badly injured in the attack but did not identify him.
The three men allegedly abducted the 17-year-old girl and gangraped her in a moving car in the city yesterday.
The girl and her male friend were on their way to attend tution early yesterday morning when the accused posed as policemen and forced them to sit inside the car.
The victim's friend, who is also a student of class XII, was tied up inside the car while the girl was sexually assaulted by the three men inside the moving vehicle.
Shahid is a son of Circle Police Inspector of Dholka town of Ahmedabad district, while Tariq's father is a police constable serving with the city police.These beasts should be shot immedietly. In few days they will be freed by their influence

No wonder they were beaten up by the angry mob. They should have been beaten to death. Such kind of people have no place in a society. This is the kamzori of our courts that it doesn't give death sentence to such people. Culprits aren't afraid of the court because they know that their influential families will save them.

Thank God, nothing like this happened in this case.

Women are not safe in this country.... Period. I live in Delhi, the national capital and I still don't feel safe in going out alone after 8 o clock. Anything can happen to anybody anytime. And if you are a woman then you have to be extra conscious.

Eve-teasing is a routine and I have even stopped getting angry at it now. It's a normal thing for us. At first, I used to cry a lot when somebody used to behave that way with me. But slowly I realized that there is no gain in crying and the only solution to it is just ignore them.

The government must take necessary steps.. but will it?

It is really shocking that such an incident has happened. Fast track courts are the answer.
In Rajasthan, there are already fast track courts which deliver speedy justice. In the Bitty Mohanty case,the judgement was delivered quickly and even after trying every trick in the book, the Mohanty family was not able to save its son who was sentenced. It is however sad that Bittu is presently absconding. However his father, DIG Mohanty had been suspended for some time.

I saw this this morning. Its henious and cruel. I'm not sure of the laws of India, but they should be thrown to the wolves in a high security prison, where the law of the "man" will take care of these imbeciles.

I am so proud of that girl to point out the preps, and she would need to go through a lot of therapy to come of this shock. What is also sad is that these guys are also in a way "kids" - and though they fully understand the actions they did, I don't they can grasp the severity or how malicious it turned out to be.

I just hope they will be given the maximum penalty, for this and I feel that rape is worse than murder, as horrendous as it is, a rape victim will constantly live in that fear, always returning to the crime, so there shouldn't be any lienienancy in sentencing.

Such crimes are increasing by the day. Just yesterday, there are reports of another gangrape in Mumbai. This time, a boyfriend blackmailed and raped his girlfriend along with his friends. This is so sick...

Is this what humanity has come down to? You seriously can't trust anyone these days. No matter how close he is. The worst part is that despite such a huge outburst against such cases, they are just increasing instead of decreasing.

I think the only solution to this problem is zero tolerance towards crime against women and children. Give the culprits of such crimes Death sentence. Nothing less than that.

Where is this case now? It has simply gone out of the news... I hope the justice is being delivered in this case.

I really wish that the court gives these culprits and everybody like them a very strict punishment. I don't think death sentence is the answer as it will get them rid of their misery really fast.

They should be kept alive and put into solitary confinement forever. Taala lagao aur bhool jaao!!!

You are right! Giving them death sentence is not the worst punishment for them. they should be left to face the hell on earth. This case is more gory than anybody could imagine.

As it has turned out, these guys were running a racket. They used to rape girls and send their recorded videos in the market. OH MY GODDDD!!!!!

It feels so sick to even type this kind of thing.
