Thumbs up SEWA outlet Hansiba - Empowering Women

Hansiba the brand of rural artisans has created a niche for itself by blending age old embroidery techniques with modern designs and contemporary fashion. It gives meaning to the rich embroideries, the traditional skill and heritage of rural female artisans.

The owners of Hansiba are the rural women artisans, who are the shareholders of STFC (SEWA Trade Facilitation Centre). Every Hansiba creation is carefully embroidered by the rural artisans of STFC for whom craft is the only source of income and livelihood.

Hansiba relies on the collaborative work over 3000 female women, which is also its biggest asset. Currently, it has boutiques in Delhi & Ahmedabad and is planning to open 2 more stores this year.

Have you visited Ahmedabad's Hansiba outlet ? Share your experiences.

Question Re: SEWA outlet Hansiba - Empowering Women

I haven't visited Hansiba in Ahmedabad. Where is it located and is it also available in other parts of India - I'd mainly like to know if we can get its outlet in North India. I've heard of Hakoba, but regret not know much about 'Hansiba' Please tell us more about it. Is it run and managed by SEWA?

Looking forward to some interesting info. Thanks in advance.

Ashwini

Hi Sejalmodi:

I haven't visited Hansiba but SEWA had put up a stall in Dastakar in Bangalore and that is when I happened to see their craft. They have such lovely items - all of their work being hand embroidered. Always look forward to see their wares!

Arrow Re: SEWA outlet Hansiba - Empowering Women

Is there any SEWA outlet or Hansiba outlet in Delhi? Please post details.
I'd also like to know about the products from Hansiba and the kind of work the organisation (SEWA) is doing courtesy Hansiba. Is this programme to involve village women only for Gujarat, or can women in other parts of India also join the revolution.

Thanks,
Sonia
