Gujarat - Akshardham Temple

Akshardham Temple is located in Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat, near Ahmedabad. This majestic temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan.

This is the largest temple complex in the whole of Gujarat. The temple is 108 feet high and is built of rock. 6000 tons of stone were used in the construction of this temple.

The seven feet high idol of Lord Swaminarayan is built in a sitting posture with his right hand raised in “abhay mudra”. The idol is plated with 1.2 ton of gold. This idol has the idol of Swami Gopalanand on its left and the idol of Swami Gunatitanand on its right.
