Default Festival - Ambaji Bhadra Purnima

Ambaji Bhadra Purnima is one of the most popular festivals of Gujarat. The festival owes its name to the village named Ambaji, which in turn owes its name to a shrine located there. Ambaji village is located at the foothills of Mount Aravalli. Ambaji shrine epitomizes Goddess Ambaji who is worshipped dedicatedly by the local people. It is the principal shrine of the Goddess in Gujarat.

The shrine has no idol within it. A triangle, inscribed with figures and having the syllable “Shree”, represents the deity. This is known as Vishwa Yantra. It is also revered as one of the original Shakti Peeths.

The festival is observed on the full-moon day of Bhadrapad.

Default Re: Festival - Ambaji Bhadra Purnima

Ambaji Bhadra Purnima is one of the largest festivals that Gujarat celebrates. Around a million devotees from all over India as well as from abroad attend this festival. They have a strong belief on the Goddess.

It is a one-day festival that takes place at the shrine of Goddess Ambaji near the foothills of the Aravalli mountain range. It is one of the oldest and the most attractive shrines of Gujarat.

The principal feature of this festival is the reading of the Saptashati, which comprises of seven hundred verses, in praise of the Goddess. Another attraction is the cultural show of Bhavai, which is an ancient and purely folk form of dance drama of exclusive Gujarati origin.
