Smile Have you visited Gujarat during Navratris?

I'm totally into the Gujarati festivals. My favourite one is Navratri, where men, women and children get together to dance through the night, doing garbas and dandiya raas. Navratris have religious significance as well as cultural and fun activities. Want to come to Gujarat, come during the navratris and you'l never want to leave.

Hi Muzna,

Thanks for your reply. Navratris are not only fun and festive but also a great unifier. People all over Gujarat come together and dance the nine nights, of all communities too, and foreigners can be seen joining in the revellery.

Peace and Happiness

Yes Muzna and Namratag, That is so true!

The festive spirit is palpable as men, women and children participate in these nine nights of pure joy, dancing the night away. The women look stunning as they whirl to the music in their lehnga cholis and the men in their dhoti kurtas make a dashing picture.

Has anybody been able to walk away from these nine nights of dancing and music without a wonderful feeling in their hearts?

dear namrata
sorry, last time i could not finish the post.
i remember my days in gujarat, twice i was there during navratri.
though the revelry in the bigger gatherings is great , but the garba which all sing at home in the evenings is beautiful. and the garba of the boys only groups do amazing stuff, which i have hardly seen outside of gujarat.
and the garba gatherings are there everywhere, i felt as if whole of the city was rejoicing.
In the northern states due to prevalence of terrorism, these gatherings, which i remember from my childhood ,have faded over time. it is always risky to come out. i miss all this.

dear priyanshi
you have summed up the nine days in a couple of lines
