Numbers in the collar region

Dear friends

Does anybody of you really know what does the number written in each readymade dresses mean. Please do help me. If i have a 4 year old daughter to buy a ready made dress i could see numbers on each dress in the collar area like 32, 12 and sometimes 8, 9 etc. what does this number mean. please help me. Whereas in some shops it is very easy as it directly has the age like 3 years or 4 years.

Women’s Tee Sizing Chart
Please take measurements over your undergarments and if you are in-between measurements, please order the next size larger. Chest
Measure under arms around fullest part of bust. Be sure to keep tape level across back and comfortably loose.
Natural waist
Measure around natural waist with a loose tape.
Drop waist
Measure around your waist, where you like to wear your pants, with a loose tape.
Hips
Measure around fullest part of body at top of legs. Keep feet together and tape parallel to floor.
Inseam
Using pants that fit well, measure from the crotch seam to the inside bottom of the leg.

UNISEX/MEN SIZING CHART
This is a unisex line. Most contemporary T-shirts are sized for the Boomer Generation (former hippies who are now in the "relaxed mode"). These tees are sized for two categories: men of all ages who desire a youthful fit and women of all ages who do not desire the form-fitting look of the Baby Rib tee, but refuse to wear the oversized, unshapely T-shirts of the other leading brands. These tees are designed in the same way T-shirts were in the '70s and '80s, when the Boomers were younger.

thanks for your reply. Now if we know only the age of the children and to buy them a dress is it possible by seeing the number or only a guess. Because whenever i go to India to buy dresses for all the relatives it really becomes a headache it is not possible to know the chest size of all children. Please help. Thank You.
