need help in putting steps for pallu

I need help in wearing a saree especially with putting steps to pallu. I see some people wearing 3 steps some 4 and etc. Could somebody please guide me how to put steps to pallu and could u also tell like how many number of steps suitable for a particular material of a sari. ami asking tooo much??????

If you are fat, then put 3,slim 4 looks good.
