Malyatha ,

You have hit the nail on the head. This is something which boils my blood whenever I see (in film or news) and hear.

This is just atrocious.

I seriously cannot understand how can a man(rather animal???) rape a girl w/o shame. He shud feel ashamed rather than the girl.I seriously miss a point here. The girl is being forced and the guy also reveals(@####??) in front of her.But why is it that the girl should be shunned by the society just bcoz she showed(?@@#@#) something to another guy.

The guy thinks he acheives something by raping a girl. The stupid movies show that to take a revenge on a man they rape the ladies in the family. How so idiotic?

I am sorry to say the above in a public forum .I could not put it in a much decent way.

This will never change unless a man is made to feel ashamed of raping or molesting.

Quote:
I vehemently oppose your views here! There are women of all types. Some who beleive prostitution is the best way to live, and others who say even a mere look at a woman calls for a question on chastity. And Malyatha, not all heroines are PURELY FOR MONEY! And how do you know that they happily (??!!) sell their bodies? It can happen, I am not negating the possibilty, but I truly stand against your generalisation. Not all heroines love skin show and do it for bags of cash. There are so many things involved - ranign from a proper life, sometimes a family ( Did you know Silksmita educated her sisters only from this money), fame ( it is addictive, and i do not support it, but that is also a reason), family situations ( heard of celebrity mom's who make their daughters sleep!)
Archana, I have a different point of view here.I think Malyatha is right.Heroines are purely for MONEY and FAME.This is undeniable. What else?Do you think they come on screen for "kalaithondu"?No way!Show me one heroine today who does not like to her skin and has a clean chit.I will take back my words.Cine world is ugly behind the screen.

But Archana, Thatz not the point. Please do not loose the serenity of the thread.Malyatha has a different thing to say here. The ladies above are trying to find a solution here.

She is talking about rape being considered as a casual thing. But it is nice to see that we have good lady directors these days who are inteliigent enough to take good movies without any obscene scenes.I simply loved Mozhi and Abhiyum Naanum.

I think we cannot get away with all this atrocity unless we instill the right thoughts to our sons and daughters.

Regards!

Bhuvindhi,

I agree with what you have to say on how rape is shown as a means of revenge. It is the crudest form of showing a emotion, and our movies do it at the worst. I do not argue that heroines come in for "kalaithondu" at all. Infact, when Nayantara was awarded Kalaimamani, I was like WTH is this! Agreed, cine screen is ugly behind. But that is not only because of a woman(the heroine). I come back to my pet peeve here - why is it just the heroine is singled out to say she shows her skin, and sadly not much, i repeat "much" is spoken about the men behind this women! That would mean a entirely different topic! The reason whyI had to point out such instances, and loose the thought behind was because much is generalised here. I do not agree to the statement - HEROINES ARE ONLY FOR MONEY AND FAME. I dont deny, and accept - Most in the industry are commercial, and the true essense of cinema is lost and hence heroines become glam dolls( agreed there are some who do it just for the heck of it!) and it is not just the heroines - every single soul in the industry is only for MONEY and FAME.

Exactly!Thatz why many people in film industry do not care about what they show on screen and what impact it will have on the society.Pathetic!

I agree with u 100% on this.Nope, Never will I say that it is only becoz of women. In some cases , they are forced by men to do so.Sad!

Hi Malyatha,

It is very sensitive topic!!

In 2007 (I guess) in Mumbai one cop had raped one young girl at Marine Lines Police Station, it is the true incident and not the scene in the movie, that girl was innocent and was there with her boyfriend, the cop was later punished. But no one knows what happened to that girl, I am sure her boyfriend did not accept her. This is the cruel truth in Indian society that girl has to suffer in such circumstances.

Only women can stop this expliotation, I am agree with you that we should unite. When I see such types of movies I think the solutions which they show in the movies are far from reality.

In my opinion we should start to ban such types of movies. And in real life situation we can only get self defence training and the help of women organizations.

The incident which I have mentioned in the first paragraph for such kind of situation i feel first we have to teach a lesson to her boyfriend but I am happy that cop was punished.

This is a huge problem in our media. Not only movies, our serials are also a hot spot for such casual treatment of issues. Our serials show marital rape, bigamy (more than one marriage at a time), extra-marital affairs etc. like there is nothing unusual with it. A guy abuses his wife, slaps her cheats on her, even throws her out of the house and she still forgives him in a minute.

Is this what we are trying to teach our next generation?
