Help in adding spous name in passport

Hi All,

Has anybosy added their spouse name in passport recently. AFter adding spouse name will they re-issue new passpiort or in the old passport they will be doing the changes. please let me know. and is it mandatory to have the spouse details updated in both the parents passport to aplly for a passport for kid.

hi indhu,
i guess it is not necessary to change your name in the passport. it would only add more confusion. For applying for your child, you can show your individual pass ports and the other necessary documents. Atleast this is what i think.

Hi nutty_witty,

They will be issuing new passport as per the new Government Order from March 08. You require
a) Marriage registration certificate
b) Incase the old passport address is different from current address, then you need to provide address proof ( I think you need to provide 2 address proofs like bank a/c, LIC)
c) photographs- I dont remember how many(could be 3)
d) old passport
e) Id proof (PAN Card/Driving license)

The old passport will be returned(ofcourse cancelled) on the day of the submission of your application in case if it has valid VISA.
Otherwise, it will be sent along with your new passport.

You could also go for fast pace. For this you require a certificate from a Notary public that you are residing in your current address.


About the child's passport, I am not sure about the current Government order if both parents should have passport with appropriate spouse name.
I really doubt this. Lets see what others say.

Since this thread is about passport,i would like to clarify a doubt here.Kindly reply to this if anybody knows the procedure please.
Iam a Malaysian national living in Chennai.My passport expires this year,sometime in August.
Can i renew my passport in Chennai itself in the Malaysian High commission office without travelling all the way to Malaysia?

Adding spouse name in the passport

Hi,

I got married 2yrs back. I m from Mumbai and husband is from Kerala. As i didn't have any documents of my husband here in Mumbai, i had to give my parents document for the passport as i am staying with them, because my husband works abroad. Now can i add my husband's name in my passport, by giving the marriage certificate. I have not change my name after marriage. Is it possible to add spouse name?

Please advice, if yes how can i go about it?
