Minal,
I will tell you what gifts I had given for haldi kumkum at my place during Navrathri. I had purchased from Micheals store here in U.S, small Jewellery box (wooden).
I had also gifted in the past...a glass plate with designs on it, small glass bowl used for serving custard all of which are useful for my friends. Take a look at stores like dollar store, Micheals, Garden Ridge etc and u will get an idea.

hi,
I remember my friend gave ceramic bowls from kmart.. it would not cost more than $2.. you can give them with some fruits and a packet of haldi & kumkum if you have.. or you would get the wicker basket(small ones) again from kmart for $2 or $3..
Luv,

1. Candleholders - (you get in dollar shops)
2. Magnetic fruit stickers
3. Hair clip
some of my friend back in india, also gave Everest Masala pack (although i am not sure i will do the same)
