Default Getting a first Credit Card

My cousin came here this year for doing her MS. As we all know, credit card is indispensable to get by in the US. But her first application for a Visa credit card has been rejected. The reason cited was the lack of credit history in the US. Can anyone suggest what she can do next? Should she go on applying with other banks until some bank approves?

Akalya

Default American Express Students card

Akalya, when I came to the US 5 years ago, I also got rejected for a credit card when I applied through my LaSalle bank. But then I applied for the students card from American Express and got approved. American express is pretty good about getting you started with a credit card. Here is the link for the students card.

If you would like to check out all the other cards offered by American express, try this link which compares all the cards. Hope one of this works for your cousin.
