Chaaral:

The mango pie is here:
Frozen mango pie

Here is the lasagna recipe:
9 lasagna noodles (uncooked/dry)
1/2 ground beef (you can use ground chicken or veg sausage or some squeezed dry chopped spinach or omit)
1 28oz jar of spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup water
15oz container of ricotta cheese
8oz shredded mozarella (whole milk is best but part skim is ok, forget no fat cheese for this recipe)
1 egg beaten
2 Tsp chopped parsley (you can use dried also)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup parmesan

In large bowl crumble ground beef. Microwave (high) 3-4 minutes or until brown, stirring once. Drain excess fat. Add souce, 1/2 cup water. Microwave (high) 3-4 minutes until sauce mixture is hot, stirring once.
In smaller bowl combine beaten egg, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parsley flakes, salt and pepper to taste.
In an oblong (11x7) or square Pyrex baking dish (size of microwave oven will determine baking dish size) layer 1 cup hot sauce, 3 lasagna strips (break to fit if necessary), 1/2 cheese mixture, 3 lasagna strips, sauce, remaining cheese, 3 lasagna strips, remaining sauce. Top with parmesan cheese. Cover with saran-type wrap. Microwave (high) 8 minutes. Microwave (medium) 25-30 minutes until lasagna noodles are tender when pierced with fork. Let stand 10 minutes, covered, before cutting.

Charaal:
To get the right consistency of the mozarella you need the fat content. I just buy any store brand and use that. The low fat brands just stay as dry shards in the recipes without melting in the proper way. Perhaps that is your problem.

Tina thanks for the recipe. will try it, the cheese was ok, but something wrong with the noodle or water content etc.
i layered it one day before and next day baked it, so maybe that was wrong??

for MW lasagne do u use the no boil noodle or regular ones? last time i used regular ones. so thought maybe i should use no boil ones.

Charaal:
Yes you have to be careful of water content as the noodles are not boiled. You can increase water by 1/4 c if you need to (maybe more depending on your oven etc). The noodle was regular dry ones (R-F brand in this case) just laid as per the recipe. One thing about buying Italian pasta types: be sure to buy ones that are made of durum wheat--it makes a big difference.

I no longer use micro but when I used to this recipe was always successful for me. I was using 900w I think. This recipe is also kid tested and they liked it well. Just be sure to increase your water if you see the top layer of pasta getting too browned although it will taste ok unless it really burns.

Hello ladies,

Probably many of you are already aware of this product. But wanted to share this with you.

It is 'Bob's Red Mill Whole Ground Flaxseed Meal' that is rich in fibre, lignans and Omega-3 fats. I bought this at Trader Joe's where this 1lb packet (16oz) costs $2.49. This is also available online from various websites.

It needs to be refrigerated/frozen once it is opened and best stored in opaque containers. We can add this to hot/cold cereal, smoothies, shakes, pancakes, cookies while baking, even chapathi dough.

Infact, I've started adding some of it to the dosa batter too! Since it does not have any distinctive flavour on its own, the taste of the dish is not affected.

It helps in controlling cholesterol too!

You are most welcome chaaral!

I've not tried the veggie masala burgers from TJ's.

I always make the veggie patties (with potatoes, peas, beetroot and carrots) at home for the burgers.
