To add to the list, you can take ziplock bags, cereal bars, vitamin tablets, hand blenders(small)

Chocolate bags, Dollar items such as nail clippers, measuring tapes, key chains etc

I am going to india first time after my marriage so can anyone give me an idea of getting things for my in-laws family and for my family and especially for my brother? wht all things shuld i get here?

Firstly welcome to India..

You can help if you have any young moms in your relative cirlce by buying Diapers which would be of great help to them as it is costly out here in India

Also for babies within 1 year you can buy "one ease" (spelling may be wrong) the dress from head to toe as it is not available out here..

Coloring kits, full set gel pens, nice toys, comic bookset for school going..

For teens may be fancy T shirts for guys and any cute accessory set, lipsticks, nail enamels etc or make up kit for girls

For elderly people of course other than health requirements I think you coming to India is the greatest gift..

You can buy multivitamin tablets ('one a day' for men, women and elderly) a pack of 250 tabs each and gift to your close knit..

Its actually a dress which covers from neck to toe with buttons in the front.. now I am getting it. Its actually a jump suit which protects the infants during extreme cold..

Guys would be generally interested in latest electronic gadgets like ipod, hi fi mobiles and stuffs like that.. May be you can pick up something of that sort for your brother.

For elders Accucheks (sugar monitor), BP monitor, centrum silver multivitamin tabs, hot water bags, massager and the list goes long.. For elders since the priority is health I am suggesting you these items.. do not mistake..Light cereals, antioxidant-rich processed fruits might be ideal..

Hi Ladies,

I was just reading this thread. But I had one suggestion. Ican understand that if we are planning to visit India we will all be thrilled to shop around and get nice gifts to everyone, but now since most of the Airlines are changing there baggage rules, Please check the weight they allow for checkin baggages. While shopping we just get couple of things at a time and we will realise the actual weight of the box only when we start packing. For example Chocolates and dry fruits like Badami will add up quite a bit of weight. Like most of the ladies have mentioned many things are available in India now and I think it makes sense to get those things in India instead of paying for the excess baggage. Yes like Mach3 razors, nailpolish , gems and pearls won't be of much weight and most of the cases it is less expensive here than in India.
