Has anyone been to Outer Banks, NC?

Has anyone been to Outer Banks, NC? Places like Hatteras Island, Nags Head, Ocracoke Island etc

We are considering a vacation there so was just wondering if anyone can give any inputs of where to stay, what's the best time to go. places to see etc

Any help will be appreciated

I live on Hatteras Island and LOVE IT!!! The island is so unique because we are not over-developed. We have uncrowded beaches and mostly vacation rental homes - no high rise hotels, chain restaurants or major highways. There is one road - Highway 12- that is two lanes that goes through the island. If you are looking for a fun, relaxing and affordable vacation, I highly recommend Hatteras Island. There are many vacation rental companies here that I can recommend for you if you like!

I would highly recommend our island to anyone, especially to newcomers! We were named a top ten Beach in America by Dr. Beach this year!

We vacationed here for over 24yrs before buying a home in Buxton Village, here on Hatteras Island. The island is truly unique in every way, no matter if you're looking for a quite, peaceful setting, or fun & activities, or if you enjoy LOTS of history, it's here!

There are some wonderful sites to visit to gather some great information on the island. I suggest The Outer Banks of North Carolina® Official Site - Visitors Bureau.

Oh, did I mention we have the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse! The tallest brick lighthouse in the nation! (sorry, I get real excited about it, my husband proposed to me at the very top!!) The view is incredible! :)

Thanks for you reply. I think is you go through most of the vacation rentals we have to stay atleast a week..Right? I might be wrong. I am basically looking to stay 3-4 days. so probably motel/hotel might be good. Can you suggest any? If there any vacation rentals for 3-4 days let me know. Also I am thinking to get there in the last week of Sep/first week of Oct. Would the weather be fine during that time of the year? I am also thinking of doing Parasailing and I looked online. I found couple of places. But do you recommend any?
