Great Mall and Vallco Mall have a store called Al-Mart. They sometimes carry cute plastic bottles that hold about a cup's worth of masala / powders. Their stock keeps changing so if you see something you like better get it. You can also check at walmart, but it will be bit more expensive.

I also save the glass bottles that achars and pasta sauces come in. Once washed and dried, they make very useful storage containers!

Hi Mangai,

At Walmart, you get good quality containers in plastic and glass.

The plastic ones come with regular lids in sets (small to large ) and also the Lock seal containers. These are really good. The glass containers are good for storing pickles, salt etc...but my concern is, when we are cooking, we may tend to drop them.

So, just for turmeric powder and salt, I use the glass containers, for the rest, I prefer the plastic ones. As for Sambar powder & Rasam Powder, I got stainless steel small containers (from chennai).

Even if we pay extra bucks, the rubbermaid storage containers and the LOCK & SEAL containers are worth it. :)

Cheers
Krithika

I store all powders from india in Large Ziploc freezer bags and save it in the freezer. This way it stays fresh for a long time. Also, for daily use I keep it handy in the kitchen cabinets by storing in glass bottles. Glass bottles I use are spagetti sauce jars. I clean them and remove all labels on the bottle before storing.

There are too many options in Dollar store, but not all are good. After some time a kind of plastic smell sticks to the food material.

So I get glass bottles in Ikea, attimes plastic bottles in Walmart.

Hi,

Like Shree mentioned i too bought some plastic containers from Biglots. But i feel like they are just good for storing dry powders but not good enough for storing the food products that need to be reheated. For good quality plastic product u can go for the RUBBERMAID thou bit costly they are worth the money.
