| Myself and my wife are currently in US for the past one month or so, as a visitor. A couple of things that have aroused my curiosity are !. Majority of Afro Americans esp sports persons have their heads shaven. 2. I have not seen any beggar around.; Is begging punishable by law or every single individual in US gainfully employed? Is there no pavement dwelling ? 3.Do young indians who come here for a job initially undergo any training to understand and speak American English? gopalan |

| Dear sir, I am sure you are enjoying your visit ... and having fun. Great observations... 1. because of the texture of hair, it is very hard to maintain when they are playing and sweating, hence a clean shaven head helps. 2. beggars/pan handlers are there - you can see them with 'home less' placards near some exits. It is easier to spot them iin bigger cities. 3. Not really, most of us can fit in quite easily, it takes a little while to understand the social culture and to participate. But there are institutions that provide that kind of training if needed. Please keep your observations coming.... thanks |
