Please advice on what to wear when in US !!

Hey All,

I would be travelling to US for a week for a meeting. Since I am travelling there for the first time & I am confused on what to wear when I am out there, can anyone advice me on that?

Happy journey to US. According to me you should wear what you will feel comfortable you should wear. In case if you are a person who wears only saree or chudidhars and havn't worn pants or skirts and if I ask you to wear so you are the one who is going to feel odd. In case you wear pants and skirts. Then those are the clothes mostly worn there. Our traditional outfit is always respected a lot anywhere in the world. So even if you wear sarees and chudidhars it is still fine. Make your choice. See in what you feel free and comfortable.

Welcome to US ! I absolutely agree with what Aruna suggested.

Our Indian dresses are always admired and appreciated..throughout US.

As for the meeting, even in India, some offices expect you to be attired in a suit. So, it depends on your company's preference, whether they want the employees in a business professional suit, informal wear etc for work.

If you are asking about how to dress in general, you can wear anything you feel comfortable in. If you are a person used to wearing jeans, skirts etc..then go for it ! Or else, no harm in wearing sarees and salwars.

Yeah..Jeans with our traditional kurti will be gud..

If you are asking what to wear in a professional business meeting, then a pant suit would be good (if you are comfortable with that ofcourse)...

But if you are comfortable only in Indian wear, then wear a salwar kurta for the meeting...

For informal wear, anything goes, so wear whatever you want to...

Hey All,

Thank you so much for your responses. I like to wear only Jeans & salwars. As for the meeting, I would like to wear the pant suit or the kurti over a Jeans... Its not a must to wear formal dress for meetings in our Company so.. i would choose Jeans and kurti.... I hope to go to chennai tomorrow and do some shopping... and as far as my VISA... its not done yet.. I have my interview next week.. Wish me good luck :)

All the best for the Interview !! You can wear anything - like salwar suit, Jeans-kurta(short/long).... The most important thing - you should be comfortable !!! That's it !
