Scripps 2008 National Spelling Bee

Hello IL'ites,

Just finished watching the National Spelling Bee 2008 and out of 12 students who participated, half of them were Indians.

The winner is Sameer Mishra..the runner up is Siddharth Chand.

Felt very proud of their achievements, besides, it serves as a testimony to the brilliance, if not the ingenuity of Indian/Indian American students in the US.

Over all it has been a competition dominated by Asians.

Yes, both have made India proud ..infact , we watched this programme with our children yesterday.

We showed them how the children worked hard and were confident.

Sure, hard work reaped its fruits..I could see the joy in all the parents.
