Default Writing 'Harishri'

In Kerala we have a custom of writing 'Harishri(this is a word in malayalam)' in rice for the first time. My kid is going to be 3 yrs this July and I would have to make him write 'Harishri' before he turns 3. This is done in temples in Kerala.
I would not be able to go to India before that and am looking for a temple in US where I can do this. Am in Raleigh and if somebody could suggest me some temples where we can do this, it would be of great help.
I would be okay to travel in the US.
Please suggest.

Default Re: Writing 'Harishri'

I am also a Keralite but I don't know how to read or write Malayalam. This is what I made my son do when he was around 3.I put some rice on a tray at home, lighted the vilakku(lamp) ,sat next to him,and made him write 'OM' in Hindi on the rice 3 times.Since I don't know how to write Malayalam,my parents asked me to do this instead. That's it.Hope this will help you.
