Default Healthy Discussion about Orange Juice

Hi all,

Most of the americans drink OrangeJuice (OJ) like water. After coming here even i got that habit. Though not @ breakfast atleast in the evenings i drink it. But i havemany queries regarding OJ.

generally i go for tropicana or minute-maid brand. If at all i come across any sale, obviously i choose it if it is really a popular brand say, florida's natural, simply orange, MM or tropicana.

We would have cum across a term called PULP, SOME PULP , NO PULP etc.. i wasnt bothered about it very much, but recently when i came through an article stating that juice without PULP are not healthier. Though it is not as sweet as juices which are pulp free, we are supposed to choose juice with pulp itseems.

Do any of u hav cum across these analysis? Likewise i have seen some terms like

1. From Nectar
2. Not from Concentrate

What are those? Can anybody share with us and help us choose a drink which is healthier?

Hi Cinduja,

For different types of orange juice see this link Orange juice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...you can find more information on the web.

Yes you are right Juice without pulp is not considered that healthy as it lacks the fiber content. So i think it is better if you switch over to juice WITH pulp...you will be fine once you get used to it.Actually eating the fruit itself is considered to be more healthy to have on regualr basis than the juice as it has more fiber content and also less sugar...as most of the juices contain added sugar except for some sugar free orange juices...am not sure how healthy they are...Tropicana has sugar free juice but am not sure whether it comes with pulp also.

As nectar means honey ...there must have been no sugar in it...check it.Honey is a better option than Sugar i believe.

Even am very fond of orange juice...used to have it daily when i was new to USA...now i drink it only ocassionally...eat more fruit...i like the "Naked" brand orange juice with Pulp out of all the brands i tasted so far....whenever we go to starbucks i have that juice instead of coffee...

why not just eat oranges ?
If you eat them directly you get all the fibres and nutrients and also tend to consume less when drinking in juice format.

Hi all...

I go by Ms.Mangai's words... Eating a whole orange is too good !!! Don't throw the orange's outer cover.. dry it and powder it and it can be used a face pack with besan flour and multani mitti powder.
