Illayaraja fans

Hi all,

Any gud music listener must be a fan of Illayaraja. i have too many cd's and cassettes of his songs. Recently came to know about a website called "oruwebsite.com". it is really amazing. they have fantastic collections of songs sung by IR himself.

Why dont we listen and share the best piece of IR's of our choice, which may end up with all his songs i suppose.

Anyways to start with amongst the thousands the one which strikes this moment is

"Putham pudhu kaalai" , from "alaigal oivathillai" this is such a gud melody like a lullaby. And one interesting thing abt the song is, it has not been picturised at all.We can just have the audio of it. Any picturisation of it wud not have not met the class of the rhythm and tune, and so i guess that cud have been the reason for not picturising it :)

A similar thread was started on the same topic a few months ago n it has a good amount of his collections. I am his great fan too.

Yet to hear the song you have mentioned. I like, 'Vizhiyil vizhundhu idhayam nuzhaindhu kanavil kalandha uravae iravum pagalum urasik kollum' from the same movie..'en vaanilae orae vennila kaadhal megangal' too tops my list..

I love the song "vizhiyilay pani vizhiyin mouna mozhi pesum vannam" from the film "nooravathu naal", what an excellent recital by janaki, spb, no words to say

same tune has been composed for "jaanay dona jaanay jaanay dona" in the hindi film "cheeni kum" the tune is still a big hit also "cheeni kum hai cheeni kum hai" is
"mandram vantha thendraluku manjam vara" from the film mouna ragam.

I am also total Raja Fan. Not one or two there are so many dozens of songs i like. cant put list here. Just 1 or 2 favourites are "poongathavey thaal thiravaai" , " madai thiranthu paayum nadialai naan", " inji iduppazhagee" , "shenbagamey shenbagamey".............i liked his thiruvaasagam symphony too.

he is the best when it comes to tamil movies songs.

i m also a big fan of ilayaraja. i like many of his songs. cant mention all here. i want to menton some here. vaa vennila... from mella thiranthathu kathavu, vaa vennila from mouna raagam, amma endrazhaikkaatha uyirillaye from mannan and many more. these are the top scoreer in my favourites always.
