Hi Ramyanand

My daughter now three had the surgery at 2yrs and 9months. We went and got her hearing tested and she too had some temporary hearing loss. Prior to that she used to fall sick ever so often and the fever used to go up to 104degrees in a matter of hours.
The surgery itself was cool over in under an hour and once the anesthesia wore off she was fine. Dancing around the hospital room in her hospital gown and asking my mum to stitch her one just like that . Thats kids. No problems after that.
She gets colds and coughs but no ear infection after that and its such a relief.
Actually check the actual cause of the recurrant colds and coughs as the ear infection is just the eustation canal getting pressured with so much mucus etc.
For my daughter we have finally found that she is allergic to all milk products and have stopped it in all forms including ghee and butter. Otherwise for months the moment her head hits the pillow she would start coughing. Its just been a week now that she is sleeping undisturbed through the night.
The gromets (thats what they are called) really ease the pressure between the inner and outer ear and gives the kid instant relief.
I only have to be careful when bathing and swimming. So i have got silicon earplugs and put them on everyday even for a body bath. One set in the bathroom and one with her swimming kit in school.
Putting hot formentation over the ear used to help with the pain, a bit of rice or rock salt warmed in a towel helped when she had earache.
I do hope this helped as i was going crazy with the antibiotics making her tummy upset and the fever but now no probs at all. I got it done in India on my last visit and i think it has helped her a great deal.

best wishes
preethi
