| You can get a futon. This is a wood frame that comes with a mattress. During the day, it folds into a sofa shape and at night, you can make it flat into a decent sized bed. In walmart they have an ok futon for around 80 bucks, you can get a nicer one at ikea for around 200 bucks. IKEA | Sofas & armchairs | Sofa beds | GRANKULLA/ MASSUM | Futon sofa |

| Futon is highly uncomfortable to sleep in ; we had one in our initial furnished aptmt. and the centre [folding part] of the bed is very inconvenient and gives back pain . Since it lies directly down our backs, whole night we have to adjust and keep turning. Terribly disturbed sleep. I would not recommend it to anyone, esp. if it is an elderly person who is already suffering an injury .

| I think it was again at IKEA I saw this bed - like how you find in hotels. A twin bed which can be folded right in the center to lean against the wall. I hope my description makes sense - it is like folding a sheet of paper right in the middle and putting it up agianst the wall. If you check out IKEA you will see the bed I mean! Here I found the link IKEA | Beds | Daybeds & guest beds | SYLLING | Fold-away guest bed it is called fold away bed. Hope it works for your space. I don't know how comfortabe the bed is though! | Hi Sanravi, I slept on a sofa bed for 1 year and it gave me a back problem that has still not fully gone away. The problem with all the foldable kind of beds is that the joins are very uncomfortable when you lie down on it. My suggestion would be to buy a simple straight bed from ikea. Go for the cheapest one possible but buy one that remains straight. Hope your MIl gets well soon. love, Aarushi

| This is the type of bed we have at home for my son, which we got from Ikea two yrs back.Although it looks quite delicate,it is quite sturdy and has been in good condition till date. You can check this out.One problem is the length of the bed, since it is only a kids bed.But you might find something on the same lines for adults too at Ikea.
