Default Vacation to India - Cost of tickets

Dear IL'ites,

It is nothing but the usual, seasonal topic; vacation to India, Chennai.

I want to leave in the last week of May or first week of June and return in the end of July. The best deal suggested was $1720(blocked already), in Jet Airways, the route being Newark-Brussels-Chennai. Did anyone get better deal than this?

I would like to know;
- the best deal in this season..
- suggestion regarding getting the deal like dates of travel and stuff like that.. &
- any agent's contact information.

I would like to decide in a couple of days or asap. So, any early reply in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, friends....

Hi Oviya,
I got a deal for 1400 in Lufthansa(austin-chicago-frankfurt-chennai)---starting may end---returning sept 1

for my hubby 1600...starting first week of Aug and returning ..same as myself

This was a deal in Lufthansa that lasted for a few days(as told by my agent)

Kuwait and Qatar seemed to have better deals but there was a connecting flight problem in my case and so couldnt look no further..

Emirates and Jet seemed to be somewhat on the higher side from my point of view.

Following is my agent's contact info..

(she was the only one to return my call promptly)

Peak season--June,July,August

Hope this helps....

Hi Oviya,

I checked many agents for my parents travel last week,but i felt the below was cheap in those list.

After deciding date, yet to book with them. Please call and check .

Newark- London(1hour stay in flight)- Mumbai- Chennai. We have to take same connectivity flight from Mumbai to Chennai(This is for Air- India)

Air-India= 1230$ (no extra charge for open ticket)
Jet Airways= 1477$

Both are including tax

Dear all,

Recently I have got an info about booking the cancelled thickets which costs comparitively much lesser than the normal ones. As the name speaks these tickets can be booked only after some tickets are cancelled.

Some disadvantages of these tickets are;
1. We won't know the exact date we travel, though we can predict the tentative ones &
2. The last minute hassels.

So not applicable for timely travles. We have to pay only after getting tickets, though. So, no much risk involved.

Have any idea?

Thank you for your concern, S..

As it is weekend, I couldn't reach any of the agents mentioned by you and Usha. I have left a voicemail to Shailah.

Will let you know once I decide.

Thank you again, my dear!..
