| I'm often questioned by my friends and relatives in India abt how much my husband makes and our financial situation here in US..It's really embarrassing...I just want to answer them without hurting them... How do you Ladies? |

| I would always answer indirectly, never giving out numbers ;) That;s what I always been.... certain things can be shared... some cannot.. and people had to understand that one time or the other... Indian people, I have seen so far, want to know the numbers, because when they hear "USA" they think we are presidents here.. They fail to see that the more the money, the more the cost of living .... If they are friends, I would say. "I have no idea how is earnings and I prefer not to bother, since its kinda private... as long as hes providing us whatever needed, we should be fine" [ This might be an indirect answer to them not to ask as well ;)] If they are relatives and immediate family, then I would say, " I dont know the actual numbers, but its OK, we are surviving....Hope it gets better" Whoever it is.. there is a limit right :) and if they dont know that, we shud make sure they do

| when people ask you, you ask them why are you asking this? the second trick is, there is a proverb in india, one should not ask the women's age and man's salary. tell them that. or siply tell them "i dont know". hope it will help you. |

Hi All! It just bugs me why even the so called educated people do not adhere to the golden rule, "Never ask a woman her age, and a man his salary"! |

| I always tell such people - just enough for roti, kapda aur makaan...
