Hi Krithika,
Not sure about Middle east from AIRTEL.
May be you could get more info @ www.airtelcallhome.com
They charge lesser than reliance right now to India calls.

Regards.

We have been using reliance for many years now and extremely happy with it.

But sure we will give a try with AIRTEL...especially if there is considerable difference in the rates. We do make frequent calls to India and Middle east.

Does this AIRTEL have access for making calls to countries other than India like Reliance? How much do they charge comparatively?

Can IL'ites already using AIRTEL elaborate on this please?

Cheers
Krithika

Hi Krithika,

You can call to 27 countries other than India. Here is the link for Airtel Tariff.

https://www.airtelcallhome.com/USA/h...ffs-popup.html

I am not sure about Airtel & reliance rates to all the middle east countries. I usually call to Oman. With reliance its 20.4 cent/min, whereas with Airtel its 21 cent/min.

Have you tried Yahoo Phone Out for international calls? Calling to Oman is cheaper there (18 cents/min), so I use Yahoo mainly. Only thing is you'll have to call from your computer. Still works fine if your net speed is high.

Hope this info helps..

Regards,
Indu

Ok this is how vonage works..

Someone has to be in US and paying the bills everymonth.

Now, if thats done, they they can add many phones to their account and thus each phone will be issued with their modem...

So lets say your husband is in US, he has a number XXX-XXX-XXXX, now he adds another number to his account YYY-YYY-YYYY.

He visits you or sends this YYY modem through courier or something.

Now, in India, you need to get a broadband connection (dial up will not work) and have it connected to the modem that you received from him. so obviously you will have to pay for the broadband connection per month in India.

Thus, you can call your husband and vice versa, as if you are in USA.. :) its local...

I dont know about the cost of the broadband connections in India. If you feel thats cheaper than the calling cards thats being used.. then this is the best option :)

Hope this helps
