| Hi Grace, Nice thread, especially when Spring has started officially. But it is still chilly at times and we have not yet put away the jackets/sweaters in storage. As far as I know, it is better to clean all the winter clothes first. Some may give to the cleaners and others may wash at home. I prefer cleaning them at home in delicate cycle. Plastic bags are not usually recommended...i go for Plastic containers. Fold and arrange all the clothes neatly and place moth balls wrapped in a tissue paper/paper towel. Try to avoid the moth balls come in direct contact with the clothes. That is my humble suggestion. ![]() Before you place the clothes, make sure the plastic container is clean and dry. Lastly store the container in a cool, dry place. Make sure there is no moisture or too much heat there. And always it is better to check for mold or bugs...so that we don't get heart attack later on! ![]() I've periodically done these steps every year...and believe me , it is really worth the effort! Cheers Krithika ( Jithiks) Quote:

| That was a very quick response Krithika !! very much. After washing in gentle cycle, do you dry them in dryer ---- if so what setting & how long ?

| From walmart or costco I bought the plastic bags that can be vacummed to remove air. This makes items such as coats etc less bulky and easier to store in an apartment. Put the clothes in these bags with some moth balls, vaccum out the air, and then put them into plastic storage boxes to keep safe till the next winter. |

| Hi Grace, I dry them in low setting ( as for other delicates). Or if you have the space & provision , probably you can air dry them...personally..i prefer dry in low heat. Cheers Krithika ( Jithiks) |

| Dear friends, I am confused with this thread. I stay in MA one of the most cold places in US.But i am not able to understand with storing warm clothes. Can anybody explain to me what clothes we r talking abt here.Is it just winter coats or something else also comes under the category of warm clothes. Pls let me know so that I can sort out my stuff and improve my house keeping skills. suji |

| Hi SUji, Don't worry too much.... Here in Mass, we need winter clothes always ready for atleast 9 months. Winter coats, gloves, scarfs, woolen sweaters, socks etc could be stored and keep all the light jackets handy. I used to do the switch over while in apartments. Now, I don't worry about storing or anything. All the clothes (winter ones and summer ones ) are kept handy in my closet. Regards Quote:
