| Hi, If I bring some home electrical appliances like Iron or Mixy, which operates on 220V, will work in US ? I heard that there is electric supply of 110V. Please suggest. Regards Amita |

| Hi vkrithika, I did not think of this "voltage" thing when coming here from India & brought a mixie that works with 220 Volts power. Is there anyway that I can use that mixie in US? I searched for voltage converters online but they seem to be expensive (around $60). Can you suggest something regarding this? Thanks, Swapna. |

| Dear swapna, Indian mixie will not work in us.Even if you use voltage converters it will for short time. I heard there are people who convert the 220 v mixie to 110v.(just winding work) Here in india they do that and they charge a min of Rs.800. You just enquire in some indian electronics shop. They may help you. Quote:

VOLTAGE may fall in 110V and 220V WATTAGE needs to be considered the heavy power usage by the appliance. When you want to use a converter for cell phone, you will go for the less WATTAGE but the same VOLTAGE (220v to 110v). But if you use a converter for a Grinder or Mixie, they need the SAME Voltage conversion (220v to 110v) with HIGHER WATTAGE(around 400 Watts or more). So, when you CANT use the covnerter FOR A LONG time means you might have bought a converter with improper WATTAGE but with proper VOLTAGE conversion. When you are buying a converter next time, read the user manual of the appliance first or SHOW it to the Converter SELLER, they will identify it For those who got their Grinders/mixies, pl take a look on it if there is something writtern as 400Watts like that, which is nothing but WATTAGE This is my personal experence when I bought the converter for the Grinder that my Mom bought from India, I paid $50 for a 500watts (220v to 110v) converter in California. It has been working for the last 5 years with out any issue ![]() |

| Hi, I bought Kenstar Mixie from India with the converter too from India. It was gifted by my Grandmother for my wedding and i dont want to leave it back in India. The converters are readily available in India and they costed Rs.1000/- My Mixie is working fine for the past one and half years without any issues. Hi Piachauhan For rice cookers also there should be converters available. You can ask your mother to ask in the shop where she bought the cooker.Once you get it,then there is no problem in using it here. Hope this helps, Last edited by kasisheela : 16th June 2008 at 03:32 PM. |
