| Dear IL'ites, I met them in Hospet. My maternal grandfather was deputed to teach Rig Veda, in the Vidhyaranya Vidhya Peta Patasala by Kanchi Periyaval, there. He lived in a house opposite to that Patasala. The houseowner's family is the one, I'm talking about. That location was called Nehru Co-operative colony. He had 3 daughters and a son. Actually, he had 4 daughters. One named, Latha, died when she was around 12. I still remember her face, from the photo in their living room. There were three houses, in that compound. Another person who was teaching Sama Veda lived in the other house. My grandpa's house was adjoined to the owner's house. If a door is opened, both the houses become a single one. That door was located in the reception rooms of the both the houses. Once when all the family members were into vacation to their hometown, the second daughter had to stay back because of her exams. I'm not mentioning their names as I have no idea whether it is OK for them or not. That is why I want to give as many clues as I can. The second daughter(her name starts with G and I used to call her G akka) would ask me to be with her during nights. She missed her dead sister, Latha, very much. She used to talk about her a lot. I learnt Kannada from her and she did Tamil from me; the alphabets. She used to speak in Tamil. I could speak Kannada. G akka would talk to me, 'unakku idli pidikkaadha, di'. Immediate reaction from me would be, 'don't call me as di'. She used to give me breakfast everyday. She used to open the adjoined door in the mornings. She would tell Amma, 'Maami, en thangaikku naan breakfast kodukkare..ninga panna venda'. I remember the 'Gunn Pongla'(paniyaaram in Tamil) very much, G akka. The eldest one was S akka, the youngest being S who was of my age and the anna's name starts with B. One of their cousin's nick name was Putti. Their Mom was too kind, too. Their Dad was a reserved man who used to talk with my Dad and grandpa. During the last year vacation she prepared her best besan laadu, chutney podi and avalakki which were my all-time favourites from her kitchen. After that, I didn't see any of them as we took my grandpa back. There were communications for sometime and it has been quite a long time, now, without any. Something tells me the youngest, S, is here in US. That's why this thread. Please answer this thread, S, if you get to see this. You can PM me, too. Not only, S, My dear IL'ites, if anyone of you know anyone of them, let me know. A beautiful relationship which is still green in my heart...
