Hi Amita,

Please fo through the below thread to get an idea about what to bring when you relocate.

Things to bring from India when moving/relocating

And regarding best place in NJ, i guess there are seperate sub forums for people residing in NJ, I guess if you post your question about location , iLites in those forums would be able to guide you.

All the best

Sri

hi amita,
welcome to nj...i myself moved just sometime bac,so i dont know too many details abt the place...anyway,places like edison, somersetand bridgewater have lots of indians and indian stores,etc...

the earlier mentioned threads of sri and nandu are quite comprehensive, but one small thing i'd like to add is that when u are bringing utensils, shop for lot of flat bottomed ones...some stovetops here, especially electric ones, are not suitable for round bottomed utensils...they might topple over...so jus get some flat bottom ones...

and if you are taking medicines, chk with ur doctor and bring them from india, as u cannot get prescription drugs here without a prescription...

i'll let u know if i think of something else...
rgds,
sowpar

Hi,

Apart from the place which our ILites mentioned, Jersey city is also very good place where you got lot and lots of Indian, Indian shops etc.,..

In Jersey city we have Indian street where whole street is full of Indian jewel shop, dress material shops, restaurants, grocery shops.

Newyork is very near just35minutes.You have train, van facility to Newyork.

But compare to Edison, Bridgewater in Jersey city house rents are little high.....If independant for 1 bedroom hosue they charge around 900$-1000$, in apartment 1 bedroom 1250-1400$ i guess.
