Thumbs up what do u think of the unfair treatment for NRI's! do anyone else feel that?

when i traveled in India this time there was a different price for the NRI's. I was furious and definitely it made me feel resentful and unwelcome. For every kind of service, there is totally different currency which they charge in dollars. when i go to chennai and i try to learn any art, they all quote me only in dollars eventhough i am physically present there. There excuse was that its for a short time frame. I just would like your input and thoughts on this topic. Thanks everyone.

Hi Raagam,

Welcome to reality. but this is the truth. last year after my r2i when i tried putting my son in cricket coaching, the master quoted exorbitant fees. i inquired the actual fees from others and just left it to cool.

After a month called him saying my son is in this school, when should i bring him to get admitted for classes, i never breathed a word about being a nri, the fees was a monthly 300rs...

This is exactly the scenario everywhere unless you know them personally. People think dollars are easy to earn..since they are not aware of the penny pinching and saving that goes in the nri circles...

so don't get mad....

Hi Raagam,
Not sure how they came to know that you were NRI.
Whenever I visit India, I totally behave like local and never give any information to any schools, beauty parlor or any shops.
Sad to know what you went thru... but that's the reality in India, people just want to cheat others and make money.
It becomes very difficult for us to survive over there with people's mentality.
Moreover, where are you from Mass???
Please visit the thread 'Introduce all Mass ladies' and give your intro there.

Regards.

Hi Shanthi and puni, Thanks for your immediate response. When my children accompany me , they always figure out that they are not from India. I just feel sad even the government is doing the same thing let alone the public. We work very hard and all our savings are gone when we visit India especially the ticket prices are skyrocketing due to gas prices. I wish people would try to understand how we live here and its not any different from living in India except that ur standard of life is little different since you can't commute anywhere without a car.

Hi Raagam,

Yes, it's so very very true. Even we faced it when we went some years back on a trip to Delhi,Jaipur,Agra. Wherever we went right from the tours of the Palaces in Jaipur to the roadside dhabas -- we were stared at & asked to pay more !
Esp. at the Taj Mahal entrance, the guard forced us to pay the rates of foreigners [ in dollars !! ] & join the foreign nationals queue --- we were not talking English & were speaking only in Tamil but still HOW THEY FIND OUT -- We argued, I even showed my mangalsutra etc. to say I'm traditional Indian but they wouldn't budge . So we returned to hotel room and next day morning tried again. This time without any incident just paid the normal entrance fees for Indians !

Down south it is worse -- even auto guy takes you for a ride , literally !! saying this street has now become one-way ; that bridge is no longer there etc. Though we look and talk same as others on the street --- somehow they find out ----
