| Shravantika Per the identification requirements - only taxpayers with SSN are eligible - ITIN's are not acceptable. Generally - this is how the rebate works: the rebates are given based on your filing status - rebates for single filers are different than married filers and also married filers with children. It is also dependent on income levels and is subject to phase out. The phase out begins at $75,000 Adjusted Gross Income for single and $150,000 for married filing joint. See link below - it is a decent summary of the rebate and how it works. On page 3, there is reference to people who have ITIN's. I am not sure how the IRS will calculate the rebate when one spouse has a SSN and the other an ITIN which I think will be the case for many on the H4 visa. Hope this helps. http://tax.cchgroup.com/legislation/...us-package.pdf |

| Hi pebblebeach, To qualify for the payment an individual, spouse, and any qualifying child must have a valid social security number. In addition individuals cannot receive a payment if they can be claimed as a dependent of another tax payer or they filed a 2007 form 1040NR,1040NR-EZ,1040-PR or 1040SS. So your hubby didnt file anyone of the above mentioned forms he should get... Hope this helps. |
