Trip to Niagara Falls

Hi ILs,
We are planning a trip to Niagara.Do you have any idea when it will be open to the public after winter?When is the best time to visit?Is there any website to know the attractions,lodging etc?

There are a lot of good lodges near the falls. The best view of the falls is from the Canadian side. If possible apply for a visa and go over to Canada. Else you can choose to go on a helicopter ride - that gives a panoramic view from both US and Canada sides. There is a large boat called Maid of the Mist - do'nt miss a ride on this.

If you are planning to go during any National Holidays like 4th of July or Labor Day, then you can also watch some spectacular fire-works.

generally at niagara u can go thru the boat & watch the fall front view & back view.many people go thru the place or above the place where the boat(front view boat) starts.
from this view u can see only water fall.but when u go to another place(i don't know exact route) on a bridge we can see water coming from a long distance & then falling down.we can see the water very closely.very beautiful place.i saw some people getting married there.Don't miss it.

We had been to Niagara this Jan. to celebrate my husband's b'day . It was fascinating !! Unlike summer days, it was not at all crowded -- so we could stand and see for a very long time. The cafe and eat-outs were also practically empty , so can sit and chomp for a long time ....

The water had turned to ice in most places ; it was mainly sheets of ice floating down the river. The kids plucked out the icicles and were licking on them !! Of course, no services like boat ride behind the fall etc. were available and in such chill weather too it was a great sight !
