Question How to continue a doctor's treatment in USA after relocation?

Hi Indus Ladies,

As part of the treatment if my doctor asks me to go for an ultrasound scanning, how does it work here? Will laboratories like Quest provide them on my doctor's order ? Will the doctor generally refer some other doctor/hospital here?If my doctor doesn't, what alternatives can I have?

Can you please guide me through the process?

Thanks in advance,

hi manuu

if you are talking abt ultrasound during your pregenancy, usually doctors do at their office, in case blood test etc then you can go to quest or if it is something else your doctor will defenitely guide you. i saw that you are from stl, missouri, we moved a year back from stl to phoenix, ofallon to be exact. if you are pregenant and need more details please do ask.

Hi,
You can get all your medical reports to the new doctor and continue your treatment with new doctor.
Usually, your old doctor would fax all the information to the new doctor.

You may have to check with your insurance if you need to mention to them about the relocation or taking up with new doctor.

Thanks Padija & Punitha... I am from St Louis. But we are at New Jersey for 2-3 months. My problem is if my doctor asks me to go for an ultrasound scanning i may not be able to travel to STL for its only purpose nor i can change the doctor for a matter of 3 months. So, would there be any possibility that i can take the ultrasound here at NJ for my doctor at STL?

hi mannu

like puni said, you can sure go for an ultrasound at NJ, just make sure your insurance wud cover it or else you have to pay from your own pocket, same thing happened to me while i was at stl, since my insurance didn't cover for it, we ended paying 300$ for ultrasound. you can get the ultrasound and tell them to fax the results to your doctor, i hope i answered your question, if not ask so.
