Default Why dont u contact the local agent?

Hi anu,

I brought a couple of times both my parents & in-laws. We found out some insurance agents in India itself and they will tell all the details. The amount is depending on their age too, remember. From 60 to 70 yrs, will be on slightly higher side, FYI.

Rgds.

Default Did you get to see this?

Hi Selvi,

There was earlier a discussion about insurance for parents visiting the US. I am not sure whether you got to see this discussion...

http://www.indusladies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=927

I also remember one of my friends saying they took visitor medical insurance in India itself (though don't exactly remember the company name!). It costed around $350 to $500 for limited coverage upto a maximum of $50000, for parents in the age range of 60 - 65 years.

Default Thomas Cook insurance

Please check out Thomas Cook also for health insurance. Their scheme is pretty good, I took it three years back.

Thanks Shakthi & Vidhya. I'll sure look in to it.. All the insurances I have inquired so far say they dont cover any pre-existing conditions. Is that the way it works with all insurances? what else they would cover then?

Any ideas please..

Thnx!

Default insurance provisions

Hi Selvi,

I think insurance may not cover pre existing conditions. I am not sure. I took health insurance for my in laws in India and there was some talk about this.

In the Thomas Cook insurance that I took for US travel, they covered a lot of items including lost baggage. I took the most expensive one (since my office covered it). There are many slabs. I assume the one- time premium will increase with age.

When my mother visited me, the travel agent in India got her a good scheme. Try asking some good, local travel agent.

Hope all is well with u & baby inside.

cheers
Vidya

Default Liaison Insurance plan ?

Thanks Vidhya, everything is going good, just one more month to go..

I might end up taking Liaison International plan with Comprehensive coverage.. Of all the plans I am seeing this seems best.

If anyone has any experience regarding this insurance please post here.

Thanks.

Default Suggestions for Visitor Insurance?

For parents visiting their children in USA,what are the types of visitors medical insurances available? Is it better to take the insurance here in the U.S or in India itself?

Default Re: Visitors to USA-medical insurance

You can get it either in India or in the U.S. I dont know enough to tell you but i will suggest you shop around or even ask the travel agent in India.
