| Rithi, I have not gotten rid of them completely, but 90% I can say. Like you I got rid of mattress, Cot etc. Please follow what Ms. Pushpa has said here. She had written an elaborate reply here. I am afraid of my clothes like you. A doctor suggested hot water treatment. You need to looks for laundromat with very high temperature water. After that try pressing. Do this for all clothes, vaccum carpet as regularly as possible. I ll find out more solutions in sometime. It's a pain. No doubt about that, but slowly you can reduce them, if not completely eliminate them. Do not use any spray. It increases the bug's reproducing capacity.

Thankyou Pushpa & Meenloch, It is a pain to deal with those bugs! I'm happy that I have our Ilite friends to share my worries. Pushpa! Sorry to hear about your experience with your good friend. It is humiliating. I'm going thro' the same thing. I'm becoming more anti-social due to these bugs. Not hosting any party, or inviting friends home. Few have mistaken, as I didn't disclose the bed bug issue to them. Anyway, my apartment people are doing some pest treatment every 15 days. My productivity is going down to deal with these stupid bugs. I use to work 2days/week from home, now no choice. Dried bed spreads, pillows in extra high heat setting. Left suitcases in the car to get heated up. Washed all clothes in high heat and dried in high heat and left in trash bags. Washed toys and stored in plastic bags. Is there anything else to do? Sharing experience and tips can help each other. Depressed Rithi

Dear Rithi, Dont worry! Everythng will get alright soon. You said your apt people are doing pest control treatment. So that will solve the issue. He came to our apartment once and put some spary all over the carpet. And that's it! I never saw any bed bugs or experienced any bed bug bites after that. Am really glad that they were gone forever. And so would you all be. And I wish you Good Luck in getting rid of them. Cheers, Pushpa

Ms. Pushpa, you are very lucky that you got rid of your bugs in 2 weeks. It is almost a month and I'm still seeing bugs here and there. The pest people haven't found any though. So don't know the potential source yet! Rithi

Rithi, Its been a month and still you have bugs!! That's surprising. Maybe they are not spraying the liquid properly. Are they doing it on all you carpet in the entire house? And ask them to use a strong chemical. And be careful with all your washed clothes and boxes that you ahve stored. May be they are also in those boxes hiding somehwere!! My friends had to throw away all their stuff. They didnt keep any of their stuff. They disposed it off all!! It might have been difficult for them to do, but that was the only solution they got. See if you can leave your boxes, suitcases and other such things in the sun. Even if they are there, they should go awasy with the spray. Good Luck Gal!! (Mrs.) Pushpa

Dear Pushpa, The pest people my apartment hires, have their own restriction about the chemicals they use. I told them to use 'suspend' after reading your thread, but they say considering all other families in other apartments and thier kids and pets, they have to use their mixutre of chemicals in certain proportions. Moreover when they do the treatment we have to leave the house and can't return until the end of the day. They told they even removed the plugs/plugins and sprayed there. They have stripped off the carpet and sprayed in the corners. That should have worked if their chemical is potent enough. All our stuff are in trash bags after washing/drying in high heat. We are treating our suitcases often in our car on hot sunny days. I bought 'sterifab' online but that product doesn't leave any residue which means there is no effect after the insectice evaporates. Early morning today, one bug bit me in sleep. I immediately woke up and found one crawling towards the wall, very fat, full of my blood. I'm very depressed. Is there anything else I could do. The thought of bugs is draining out my time and energy. Rithi Last edited by rithi; 9th July 2008 at 10:38 AM.

Rithi, Try going to Petsmart once and see if they have any product available to rid of bed bugs. I dont have the name of it now, but I remember the doctor telling me that petsmart has a spary or somekind of a thing that has to be left in the house for a day. But in order to use that you have to take a lot of pre-cautions. You will have to switch off the power supply in your house and there are other such things to do before using that. It is a very powerful chemical and has enough capacity ot even get rid of the bugs inside ur sofas and bbeds. Better go to the store and ask an associate for soemthing that can help in getting rid of bed-bugs. Hope this will help you in getting rid of them completely. Good Luck, Pushpa

Thanks for your prompt reply Pushpa. They are spraying again today. Our stuff are in trash bags in the middle of living/bed rooms. So the pest people say they cannot spray all over the floor. What to do? Did you have to take all your stuff outside the apartment to get it treated? I'll check the pets mart as early as possible. Thanks Rithi

| Rithi, I am sorry if you have already mentioned it. Is it possible to change the apartment for good. This is endless. I was newly married an year back. And bed bugs had a emotional impact. So I can relate to you. My nights were sleepless. We had to throw our cot and mattress. Absolutely no choice. Like I said before, that reduced bed bugs by 80%. They continue to live here in our sofa covers, carpet and our comforter. We have not purchased a cot yet, because we are moving out for good. We sleep on the floor after laying the comforter, which btw also has bugs. We kill the ones we see, vaccum it every 3-4 days to remove the eggs. This may sound weird, They have become our friends now. I am more used to them and their bites than before..They don't disturb my sleep at least. Also we are planning to buy steel/ iron cots next.

Dear Meenloch, I can perfectly understand as I'm going thro' the same trauma. All my clothes, socks, towel etc., are in trash bags and the thought of digging the bags each time is killing me. We also threw our box springs/ mattress etc, vaccum whenever possible (trice a week atleast), laundry our comforter, pillows etc once a week. It is terrible as we both work. I'm also becoming anti socializing. Can't call anybody home. Due to personal reasons I don't have a choice or shifiting to another place. Moreover, I may transmit bugs into the new place too. Rithi
