Recipe for masala vadai:

Ingredients:
Chenna dhaal - 2 cups
Ginger-finely chopped
green chilis-finely chopped
cilantro finely chopped
onion (1/2) finely chopped
Somb-little
curry leaves little
turmeric
salt

procedure:
Soak chenna dhaal for 5 hrs
Grind coarsly with little or no water(it is okay to have whole/broken pieces of dhaal)
Add all the chopped ingredients
add somb, curry leaves, turmeric and salt and mix well
Make small balls out of it
Meanwhile heat oil in Kadai
pat the small balls in hand so that they take a shape of small disc
deep fry them in oil.

Once done you can garnish on top with some more cilantro.
I learnt this from my in-laws and it never flopped for me
Happy cooking and let me know your FB

Hi Priya,

If you are not confident of making mini samosas at home (It can be time consuming too..), I would suggest you buy the mini cocktail samosas found in Indian stores and just deep fry them and make a mint-corriander chutney to go with them. They are found in Indian stores in packs of 50 each. Won't take much time even if you have to make about 100 such samosas.

I have made vege puffs for our pervious home owners (Americans) and they loved it very very much.

Don't worry too much, they are OK with trying out anything new.

Cheers,
Geetha
