Thanks Sriniketan and Vandhana. I had been using the regular Idly rice all along and have not used the long grain rice at all.

hi all,

i enquired in a local store here he said the same thing, but he said he is planning to sell what ever is in stock with him in the same old price
so i got it for 10.99 the 20 lb
the idli rice is also the same price. he also said what ever is already shipped will come and that will be sold in the increased price. i stocked 2 of them. i saved few dollars. thanx for posting it here.

I rushed to the store yest evening and stocked idli rice .There was a note in the sona massori rack..limit 1 per family.The store owner told that she will not be getting any more sona masoori and atta but she had no idea abt the other non basmati rice.So I bought ponni raw rice.Thanks for the info ladies...i'd have been ignorant if I had been informed thru' this site...Again IL has proved its vital role in our everyyday life...

Hi,
Thanks very much for the information. Long before I used sam`s club
long grain rice for idlis. But now I use Ponni idli rice, it is good now.
Last week only I got 20 lbs. After that I have to go for long grain rice.

Recently I purchased from our India Grocery store masoori rice marketed by Swad company at a price of 4 lb for $2.00. Today I again will check.

If u can search in cereals isle,u get long grain rice,Basmati rice,brown rice bags etc(50lb bags).

Mix whole wheat flour+bleached all purpose flour and try.They come out good!

We r living in Atlanta after seen your thread today i went to india shop .
They increased price 15.99. In some other shop 13.99.Its terrible news no more sonamassori .

Some shop people is saying this situation is up to march.Lets hope after march we will get ricein resonable price.
