I like to serve them in nice glass colorful bowls ( mostly form Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn). But love to use stainless steel plates for eating and drinking coffee, tea and water.

    Happy Holidays.

Interesting. Mom used to serve that way a looong time ago in India - you brought memories :) She switched to using Corelle plates for the last several years.

    cool09,

I had the same problem when we invited 9 guests for a lunch. We bought paper plates, tumblers and small cups(Use and throw ones) for serving.

We got big and small bowls from walmart for storing purpose.I want to buy corelle/porcelain bowls for durability and reheating purpose.

I use pyrex glass dishes for serving for guests and some pretty porcelain plates as well...but at home we still use steel "tumblers" as we used to call them in india for tea coffee and water and steel plates for eating our dinners. :)

Hello ladies, google and look for Crate and Barrel and IKEA. It is inexpensive.

Color makes it look nicer. I like plain white plate if I am not serving sambar or rasam. ( I am form Chennai). With white plain plate, color bowls look nice. I got plain white serving bowls to keep rice, sabzi etc. Looks nice.

You can serve the different item in different color cups.

If you are going to serve sweet,do it in the clear bowl.

Unless I have more than 20 people, I don't liek o serve in paper paltes.

This is the good time to do shopping everyone has sale.:coffee

    RG,
Some may be expensive, but they also have Sale during this season. But then again, are you having specific price range in mind?

Look around - you will find some good deals in stores during Dec-early Jan. This is the time you should buy since there may be good sale during holidays season.

We also dont like Paper plates for serving (unless big crowd where we cannot help it). You'll like the Corelle ones or Crate-and-barell will have even better ones.

    PS:
Romba naala aalaiye kaanom? How are you?
