hi all these suggestions are great but u need to think about what u want while going back too, please make a list now itself, so that when people relative ask you what you would like to take, and insist we want to give, i usually get my aunt some nice batik printed housewears which she likes cotton from india sometime i stitch it personally, some sambhar powder and ready mix moong ladu mix or rava ladu mix, which is fine powdered along with sugar and elaichi. when u take it along u can make just 10 laddoos each time and have a homely sweet whenever u want it goes for months if kept outside or fridge, some rose wood elephant key chain, lamps metal ones, and u get wonderful nandhi sitting position, and many other ganesha small tiny ones, some kumkuma choppu which are made of metal engraved, and of course tazhampoo kumkumam filled, all these are good for your navrathri festivals and diwali gifts...sunkan

Some of the gifts I took to 60+ in our familes are eye-glass repair kits, flash lights, Magnifying glass to read ( it comes in credit card style), tiny compartment boxes to keep pills, hand lotions, pill breakers etc. i always carry almonds, dry fruits like cranberries, raisins etc.
