    Guys,

    I will be celebrating my first Ganesh Chaturthi in USA, let me know how do you guys perform. Where do you get the clay idol, if no idol what is the alternative way?

    as far as i know u don't get the clay one. u get the clor ganesha in indian shops get that do pooja and retain it with u and do pooja to the same ganesha every year. that is what am doing. bring the umbrella from India.

    We do ganesha's idol with play dough.there are online videos to make Ganesha.check it.

    dear friend

    with the help of clay or sandal powder or kids playing mould shaper plaster of paris clay you can made ganesha.you dont need to exact shape just made the kombu shape and thumbikai and thonthi thats enough. in you tube you can get help to make ganesha shaping.

    I make clay Ganesha, you can use play dough too as others mentioned. You can get it in craft shops like Michaels or Joann. Happy vinayaka chavaithi.

    Yup....me too . I also buy clay & make ganesha & then paint on top of it . every year I make my own after coming to the US. :hatsoff to this country as it bought out my artistic abilities. :rotfl

    Anyway, this year for a change I made with fresh clay & then oven baked it .Shall post it as soon as I load the pics...
