Yes, I believe so. There is no joy better than bringing up a family and living with your loved one. Not to forget, marriage is also about compromise .....

Why do we eat our meals/food in the order of Breakfast, lunch, dinner with in-between snack time? Is it essential to follow this routine?
Not at all.... we all can eat whenever we want.... but following this pattern is a good practice to maintain health...and this is followed by most of the people in the world...
the same rule applies to marriage also...
Marriage it is not essential but most of the people believe it is good for a healthy lifestyle and follow it....

Hi,

I would like to know what you mean by is marriage essential. Are you asking if marriage is necessary for two people to live together, or are you asking if marrying for an individual is important.
Also why this question came to your mind?

Looking forward to your reply.

I think we must also see the ground reality whether marriages really work and if yes, then to what extent. We must be objective and honest here.

But marriages though need not be an ideal system, is formally a very practical and convenient system.

Like many things needed to regulate society for peaceful co-existence marriage was an invention.

And throughout the world they are not the same. So also throughout history there have been many kinds of marriages. One has only to google and find out.

Also refer to Osho's view on "Marriage and Children" on youtube.

Marriage like many other things in our life may also need to evolve. But this may require to be restricted to a commune kind of setup to support such alternative lifestyle.

But then this is a sensitive issue and taboo subject and hence better to restrict the discussion here as to the art of making marriages meaningful and successful.

And I think it is all a matter of one's skill in human relations. And this need to be taught compulsorily to every person entering life and relationships.

Yes , it is essential. IF you don't understand it now, you will come to know when you become old.
